Visual Artist - Abstract Photography
As a San Francisco based abstract photographer, I enjoy transforming imagery of modern urban architecture and Nature into unusual geometric shapes, forms, and stunning designs. My intention is to encourage the viewer to lose their common interpretation of the subject transcending boundaries for an expanded outlook.
Abstract photography enables me to convey the richness of our everyday surroundings and express multiple perspectives through the visual interplay of light, space, movement, and dimension. My eye perceives the abstractions within the object from unusual viewpoints. I’m fascinated by what’s there that we don’t see at first glance.
My creativity, inspiration and delight come from revealing what's hidden from initial observation. I enjoy transforming everyday surroundings into something not seen by others, creating a sense of wonderment and curiosity engaging the observer to want to know “what is that?”
Influences on my style have come from artists such as M.C. Escher, Magritte, Dali, Warhol, and others in the abstract movement. My photographs are printed on metal. This is a new art medium for preserving photos. Dyes are infused directly into specially coated aluminum producing modern, beautiful images with a special luminescence.
Metaphorically, I see my art practice as an umbrella with different spokes/offerings depending on your interest. I look forward to more exhibits in galleries, corporate art installations, my photographs on clothing and other products as well as continued photophilanthropic activities.
What is a Photo Philanthropist? I combine photography with my vision of philanthropy. Initially my art career was launched by partnering with non-profits and using my art for fund raising. I have worked with many organizations including Art4Aids, ArtSpan, Human Rights Campaign, OutandEqual, Global Housing Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, ArtsUnbound, and Touch a Life Foundation.
I’m honored to have had a solo pre-pandemic show in 2020 at The Commonwealth Club of San Francisco, as well as been in many juried shows. My work is in corporate locations as well as private collections in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Washington DC, Virginia, Minnesota, Utah, and California.
